I'm here.

And safe, and happy. I'm not sure what was meant by a "slow" connection by the other person, my email seems normal to me. The guy who couldn't get email at all went from a DHCP setup (at the office) to a static setup (here) but didn't fill in "our" DNS or some other stuff. I've got a static setup so I just changed the ip and all was good.

I can grab personal email (probably will occasionally), get to LiveJournal (except for this post, probably won't for the rest of the week - it will be another "summary" post at some point), and get to my work tools & email (which is ironically more annoying than my personal email, since work email requires me to be on the VPN).

Sweet.

Also, my cell phone has the same problems the project manager does. However, my hotel room and the chair there is a good coverage spot, as are several areas of the client facility. Yes, I just paced off possible calling spaces (other than outside the back door, which apparently works and might also be more courteous, but is a known quantity). The corner of this room nearest the hallway door is the best, and even that is only 2 bars (of 5) but I had a clear signal to someone else's cell when I called. I have to be careful where I set it down, as parts of this room have 0 bars and I have no clue if it even has enough connection at those moments to ring....

Real encouraging, innit? :)

Anyway, I've had a first looksee, but no more. Now I need to go do something useful about it.
