To clarify on that trip post....

I posted that from work. Don't ask how long my day was, you don't want to know. I have work to do today, too. In addition to the household stuff that needs done, the packing that needs done, and all that.

I'm flying into Chicago to go to a site in Indiana, Sunday. In theory. I don't have the tickets yet as I was told I could buy them today, which gives me a bit more window to try to talk to Jenn and see if she wants to get together.

I'll be done at the site on Friday, I hope.

This really throws my schedule in a fit, but at least my doctor was on vacation so I didn't schedule an appointment to have that mole removed next week!
My head hurts this morning, I'm stuffed up, and I'm sulky. What can I say? I didn't expect to be scrambling like this today, I was going to spend the weekend getting a few things done around the house and working out what we wanted the back yard to look like next year...and maybe, like, roleplaying some.

Blah.

Okay, unexpected trips have their moments.

I now know I will be out of town at least from this Sunday through next Sunday. Hopefully that will be it.

As long as nothing goes wrong at the site, I will get to hang out with Jenn for the weekend. There are good moments in all of this, and that's one of them.

Now, here's hoping the actual work goes well too.

So far so ... good? Not really.

Headachy. Allergies acting up. Waiting for medicine to hit (decongestant/tylenol, I already had the antihistamine at the usual time, it slunk off in fear).

I have the plane tickets, hotel reservation, car reservation, etc. Testing is done (and yielded exactly jack and shit in the way of information, alas), and D is going to look at their network and get back to me; they do have one card/configuration/setup/whatever that we have not said is okay, but if it is the problem, it will take an on-site trip to prove it.

On the plus side, I've run through what I can do from here. I just have to pack and sort out stuff with Jenn and pack and.....

And will my headache PLEASE go away? Pleasepleaseplease?

Trip stuff.

Flying Sunday around noon. Returning Sunday around 6 pm.

Scatter-brained. Two days with Jenn, I hope. Five days at the client site, I hope I'm prepared.

So far I've packed (or stacked next to the suitcase): most of the clothes I'll need while there (still need to grab socks), two reference books I may want while there, Children of the Sun in case I somehow have time to read more of it or someone I'm visiting wants to glance at it, Apples to Apples in the hope of getting to play a game or two during the visit part of this trip, my dental gum, my medicines, my contact stuff, my poetry notebooks (okay, that's sort of by default, I dropped them in the laptop bag on the way to a client site in June and it seems to be their new home), most of the toiletries, and the Dungeon Siege CD in case I'm bored at the hotel during the client site part of the week (hey, last time I brought it along on a trip, I did have downtime to play). Oh, and the trip info stuff like flight reservations.

Still need to pack: Hairbrushes, socks, the laptop itself (not till tomorrow morning, no way!), the cell phone (can't I forget it pleeease? oh, okay), snacks (except I never got to do a snack run and haven't any to pack, guess I pay airport prices when outbound or stop on the way to the airport here), my camera (which is basically ready, I just haven't moved it over there). Oh, and my brain. Except I think I lost it. :)

Counting down to leaving.

Man. I don't want to be going. I mean, I want to see Jenn, but there's five days of on-site work between me and her. Still, I seem to have adapted "okay" to this one, at least I'm getting things done. Alllll packed including having my driver's license where I can easily get it and all the various supplies I need (except, as yet, the extra decongestant).

Used the medium suitcase. It's a loose fit, but the small would have been a tight fit and anyway the pull handle's not working, as I noted after my last trip. Bah. Everything's where it needs to be, except the hair brushes, since I need them tomorrow morning, and hte laptop. Planning to be online briefly before I head out.

All that's left is to make sure I'm not too sleepy tomorrow, and find out if Scott wants the car or not (thus saving the project manager $$$ in parking, but also, admittedly, saving me $16 for the extra two days I'm adding on - more to the point, letting Scott have the good car for a week, provided he wants to drop me off and pick me up).

Good night. Wish me luck.
