Now, that was fun.
Scott and I decided we wanted to see a movie tonight. The selection (excluding things in genres I won't watch, things Scott had heard ill of, things my friends have already panned, and things that we've seen already) was pretty limited. Especially when we insisted it be in a theater that was close enough to get to.
So we saw the Time Machine. And you know, I enjoyed the heck out of that movie.
No review. I don't do movie reviews often, and usually only for things I disliked. But I had fun. The only bad part was that the theater was too cold. Must wear jacket and gloves next time, I guess.
Before that? Mmm. Work-day was a bit stressful and overwhelming, but I didn't collapse or even want to in the middle of it. My lunch was a lovely little burrito-like thing I threw together before darting out the door this morning, which was much better than I'd feared considering I did it half awake. After work I made sure I could actually cover the bills that needed paying (that whole "most of my auto-deposit goes to savings instead of checking" thing). Then I stopped by the craft store. So now I have what I need to try a new fountain design. (I had all the pieces except some way to hold up the pieces. Bah! I'd tried PVC pipe as someone else recommended, and it drove me nuts and accomplished nothing. If I had a shop full of power tools, perhaps. So now I'm trying wire mesh, sturdy. I'm hoping I can make it behave, either alone or with a few bracing pieces.) It turned out they were having a 40% off one item sale. Considering I wanted one item, that was really cool. I also got two t-shirts, though. The craft t-shirts last quite a while - nice, sturdy, color-fast ... and cheap. I like cheap. One black (I was back down to one black, and I have two pairs of pants that won't go with anything else) and one hot pink. Some days I'm glad I can wear children's large, even if it means I'm too small for many more business-like shirts I would like to wear (amazing the number of lines that don't even bother with petite or small sizes, the brats).
We may cancel our Everquest accounts. I can't even play it - whatever they changed recently, it crashes my computer. Their support people respond by telling me to upgrade a graphics driver (for which there's no more recent version) that has been working fine for me, both with their program and not, for several months, and has been working fine for me with everything but their program (including some moderately graphics-intensive games) all the while their game had problems. More to the point, they've raised their price from $9 a month to $12 or so. So now, instead of paying $9 for a few hours a month, I'd be paying $12 for no hours a month, since I can't run it.... And Scott isn't sure it's worth it to him any more. Since 95% of my fun is playing when we're both on and grouping...well, byebye!
I think. So hard to let go of things you remember once were fun, but it's not any more.
Babbling. Tired. Heading to bed soon. But it was a decent day, and a good evening. Wednesday I see what the rush hour traffic sounds like at the first-choice house from the first weekend. Sunday we go on a comparison-hunt of any place that will let us see it on easter (yeah, well, I don't have the cell phone, so...). Saturday we may be up visiting his relatives for a pre-Easter dinner. It's not clear yet; I have to be back to support a coworker in case he has problems troubleshooting (he has to pick his parents up at the airport, and has the cell phone - he should have connections available but we want to be sure). However, "dinner" would be at 1 pm. I might lose my sanity if I wasn't home by 7 or 8 pm (when I need to be) anyway.
So far, the week is looking very good.
