kyrielle: painterly drawing of a white woman with large dark-blue-framed glasses, hazel eyes, brown hair, and a suspicious lack of blemishes (journey)

Good morning. I'm way too hyper.

We've signed the "we hear you accepted the offer" papers and the disclosure papers (worst thing on those: seller doesn't know if there is insulation under-floor or not; oh, no, not that! - they really look good).

I get these back to the realtor today, and then nothing until Monday afternoon, when the inspection is. Post-inspection we arrange the appraisal. It's possible we may actually get to sign and close early on this one, if the seller's amenable (I think they will be). That'd be good. It's possible I'll end up out of town when we "should" have been closing. Bah!

I'm terribly hyper about all of this, can you tell? I've already started orchestrating the move in my head. "Stuff" moves before "Heavy furniture" (which we're probably going to hire movers for a few hours for - much easier, especially as almost all the stuff in that category has to go upstairs, and some of it has to come down first). The exception is the dresser my parents gave me, if only partly. I'm going to ask my dad's help to take the mirror portion off, and move it myself. I'm not sure if moving the dresser myself is practical. Of all the furniture we own, it's the one piece that might be easy to damage, that's heavy, that has sentimental value. (There's a lovely little table that might be broken. Key word: little. I can move that in my car.)

This means we're going to stage "stuff" in various rooms that won't be receiving heavy furniture, and the closets of rooms that will. Craft room? One piece, incoming. Library? Mmm. Probably one piece incoming - it wants a chair - but that would be right next to the door, so it will make good staging. Computer room? Um. The bulk of the heavy furniture. It will receive three large desks. It may receive other stuff, but three large desks. Oh, and the rolling cart that handles the Mac. Master bedroom? The other locus of furniture, of course. Bed, large low bookshelf (not suited for the library design, and I love that thing), dresser.

And downstairs, a rather large table. :)

Things I don't know where they'll go yet, for sure: The cabinet that currently holds our gaming supplies and some of my craft stuff. This may go in the computer room to hold gaming books (it's not suited for the plan for the library) or in my craft room to hold craft stuff, depending on what we decide. The "games" cabinet. This may go in the living room; if not, it may go in the computer room. Given the amount of storage, it may also go to Goodwill - it's a nice little thing, but there's no sentimental reasons to hang on to it if it doesn't fit.

Several items will be going to Goodwill, as well. The tv stand if the mantel will hold the tv (otherwise, it'll be in the living room, though eventually we'll want to buy a larger one that will hold the VCR and stuff), we're not sure if the mantel is deep enough though (it's definitely sturdy enough). Several bits and odds of furniture that I acquired to cover the fact that our current apartment has no storage to speak of. (Most of the cheapy bookshelves will actually stay with us at first, and be removed when we do the permanent shelving in the library. I'll probably keep one in the craft/guest room, though.)

Whee. And then we start trying to get out of debt. Probably not right away, but at some point, we want a couch and a coffee table for the living room area. But I suspect we won't want to face migrating furniture for a bit after we move!

Yes, you do sound a little hyper. Just a tiny bit.

I'll be glad to help you move the dresser. It sure has come a long way from a $9 auction piece covered with goat shit. :-)

Oh thank god.

I've been waiting in mortal terror for my notice that I need to do Something about the table.
