News. Bah, humbug.

So I read the news this morning and, as usual, what a mess.

1. Possible case of new-variant CJD (human mad cow disease) in the US (but the woman lived in Britain before, and they think she got it there).

2. Middle East. Need I say more?

3. Train derails and kills four people.

4. Actor arrested in the shooting death of his wife.

On the other hand, they're starting to learn a few more things that are potentially-useful medically. Not sure yet if they're good or bad, but they're happier than those headlines.

Remind me again why I decided to read the news in the morning while still waking up? ;)

And two of those happened in Florida. Go us.

On the off chance that you'll hit a story like GIANT SUPERCOLONY OF ARGENTINIAN ANTS TAKES OVER SOUTHERN EUROPE, and have your faith in the essential weirdness of the world reaffirmed?

... wait, sorry, that's why I read the news while still waking up.

Hm... Maybe a fear that something horribly important will happen and you'll miss it? I get a little of that on mornings when I sleep through Morning Edition, but I'm learning to squelch it.
