Mmmm. Thanks, Mom & Dad!

My parents gave me money along with the shirt. Some of the money remains. The rest has been converted into books 2 and 3 of a trilogy (Anne Bishop's Black Jewels trilogy) that Scott and I enjoyed the first book of; two votive candle holders I really liked; and an amazingly soft/comfy robe. My previous robe, a nice dark red though it is, was getting REALLY worn. Like, holes in the pockets and soon to be holes elsewhere, see-through fabric where once it was not, worn.

This is soft and thick, lavender on the outside and a pale pink-purple on the inside. Machine washable and dryable, large and enveloping and soft. I love it. Yes, it's the semi-smooth pettable sort. I don't know why, but the terrycloth-style robes annoy me more than please me. I like this one. It's comfy.

So, to my parents: thank you!!!

That's one of my favorite series. It's so lusciously dark.

Definitely. I'm only about halfway through the second book, but considering I didn't have the second book until this afternoon.... Do you know if her other books are this good?

I don't. All that I've read of hers is the Black Jewels Trilogy and The Invisible Ring (sort of a standalone book that can be read at any point, but it's in the same universe and with the same characters), but I've really liked them. I don't know if her other stuff is as dark, though. I oughta try.

The Stone Prince by Fiona Patton is also good, if you ever find yourself in the borders and in need of recommendation (and you like medieval fantasy with a twist).

I love that series by Patton! You and I clearly have at least some taste overlap in reading. Hmmm. Trying to think of the author for the Sun Sword series....

Hmm. I'll have to go check it out at amazon.

And! an update! I went into barnes and noble today and had a little lapse in control, and, um, bought the other three books in the Branion series (Fiona Patton). Although, hopefully this time I'll be able to finish The Stone Prince without moping around the house for a week afterwards.

I love those books! Did you know they were written in reverse chronological order? Which is the way I read them and they actually worked that way, much to my surprise. They don't give each other away. :)
