Time to return the toy, and start making decisions....
Dad loaned me his camera. Tomorrow I return it. And I need to figure out what I'm going to get for my next camera. I'm not so sure, any more, that it's either of the two I was considering. Maybe the "lower-end" one, which has cooler auto features, but maybe not. See, when I did the research, I was really really wanting manual controls.
The camera I borrowed, has said controls. I don't use 'em much. Now and then. I'd like a few, but I don't need all of them at once, and I'm not sure I'll even use them if I have them. And that was when I was trying to get used to using them. I was happiest, and producing the best pictures, when I could let the camera do a lot of the thinking for me.
So now I'm looking at the fact that resolution, zoom, and good auto features trump manual features, but I want some of those. This makes it easy to pick between the two cameras I was considering...but it also makes the original search that narrowed it down to those two and a couple others, totally invalid.
So I get to do all my comparison work again for a different set of criteria. This is good. I would much rather find this out now, than after I buy a camera that has too many or (worse!) the wrong features. This may save me money. It will definitely save me sanity.
