They announced in news that permies were going from 15 to 20 userpics, and paid users could pay to go from 10 to 20 userpics.

That was cool.

Now Brad has announced that it will be 50 instead of 20.

For both groups.

Oooooo, what now, what now..... I've hesitated to play with userpics much because I hate to give up any I have, but now.....

I image it will be become harder to visually identify your friends, with the the possibilitiy that one could post every day for nearly two months under a different picture. ;^)

Realistically, it won't be much of a problem, given that I doubt most people were pushing the previous limits.

I was thinking about this, too. It won't be so easy to identify people solely based on userpic. Not that it's a problem, just something I'll have to pay attention to now. =)

I must have read that wrong because I thought you had to pay for the extra pics. But then I didn't bother to read any of the 300+ comments on the topic either.

Think you missed a bit in my post, actually, where I said paid users could pay for it. :) Permanent accounts get 50 user pictures; paid accounts get 10, I think, but can pay to up that to 50 (40?) instead. (The wording's a little confusing, in the latest post, but I think it's to 50.)
