Gay Marriage, Orson Scott card and rebuttal.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] oneminutemonkey for these links. Orson Scott card wrote an anti-gay-marriage essay/article; [livejournal.com profile] covielle wrote a response/rebuttal.

And a link from there to [livejournal.com profile] brancher's response to the Card essay also.

The religious definition of marriage and the legal definition of marriage need not match. Both sides are trying to define something that has been assumed to this point, I think. I think it's also clear by now which side I agree with....

Man... I never knew that Orson Scott Card was... well... such a BASTARD. I can't stomach reading the whole article closely, but MAN. And to think I've read so much of his stuff. I'm going to send this article to my dad tomorrow. I wonder what he'll do.

George R. R. Martin had better not be a raging bigot. I don't think I could handle that.

I didn't get all the way through it, not worth the effort. Two points jumped out at me though.

a) Day already is defined to include that portion called night. We use it both ways - it's daytime... versus it's Friday. How long is a day - 24 hours?

b) I did not learn my "role" from my same sex parent. If anything I picked up my beliefs and behaviors from reading, my siblings, and psychology classes.

I suspect I developed more behaviors from males than from females, and I'm okay with that.
