September 11.

There's a part of me that feels I really can't let this day go by without posting about it, and so I am - briefly. Forgetting is bad. So is remembering so intensely that we relive it. Once was enough.

Instead, I'd like to point out where we are and how far we've come. Life is, really, back to normal in this country - barring terror alerts, which seem to cause at least as much terror as they prevent.

I'm more worried about Hurricane Ivan, right now, and a friend (hi, [livejournal.com profile] camwyn!) who is potentially in its path as she helps out victims of the previous hurricanes. That...is a better use of this day than watching rebroadcast footage of three years ago, in my opinion. Then again, I'm not that fond of the TV even when events are first happening, so I'm biased.

And that's all I have to say about the day, and more than I thought I would when I started this post.

I agree with you. We should remember but we don't need to rehash it. As I go to various blog sites that I read, I immediately leave if they have gone into memory mode. [Unfortunately, this means I am probably missing some commentary on how things have improved or not improved which would be worthwhile reading.]

9/11 was a battle in this war. Consider: It was fitting for Abraham Lincoln to give his Gettysburg Address, but I bet he didn't rehash each year thereafter.

It was weird flying today. Everytime the plane would make a little unexpected course correction there was one of those "what if" feelings. Not really scared just sort of creepy... hard to describe. I'm glad we're here.
