kyrielle: painterly drawing of a white woman with large dark-blue-framed glasses, hazel eyes, brown hair, and a suspicious lack of blemishes (banging head)

Woo! Mt. St. Helens has blown her top.

Well, a bit of steam and ash, anyway. So far it sounds like the mountain is settling down again now. Which would be very nice, as today on our way to the coast, the radio seemed to be alternating between last night's debate and the possibility of the mountain exploding. I was heartily sick of both by the time we got to where reception sucked and turned it off.

On the way back, they alternated between the debate last night, and the fact that the mountain had finally exploded, and it was as anticlimactic as scientists had been telling us it would be. *bangs head*

At any rate, maybe within a day or two, they'll shut up about the mountain. I hold no such hope for the elections coverage, but honestly, there's only so many times (ONE) that I need to hear the same bloody soundbite.

Anticlimactic? Speak for yourself. Some of us (particularly those who have spent years studying geology and think their rock hammer is superniftycool), think that huge jet of steam was just the cat's pajamas. Although I don't think that term ever actually passed my lips or even crossed my mind until now. But I still think this is really cool.

Now maybe you understand why geologists like their alcohol so much. Also, because I have the link: http://www.gps.caltech.edu/~ryan/realultimatepower.htm (http://www.gps.caltech.edu/~ryan/realultimatepower.htm)
