This morning, Scott and I went to the Lake Oswego farmer's market, then on to Saturday Market. (It's a pity Wilsonville hasn't got a farmer's market, I might make it to one more often if we did, but a number of adjacent towns do. Much to my amusement, every Sunday, it turns out there's one up at Washington Square of all places.)
So, now I have fudge (which I really didn't need) and fresh veggies (which I didn't need, but which are a much better idea than the fudge) and fruits. Peaches and nectaries and blueberries, beans and potatoes and tomatoes. I have NO IDEA whether we'll finish the cherry tomatoes, but the last of the season's pick in mixed yellow/orange/red were too cute to pass up.
Scott just finished chopping the onion for me, so today there will be (an attempt at) goulash from Mom's recipe. And some green beans. I hope this tastes half as good as it sounds to me right now!

Can you give me your mom's recipe? Please?

1 pound hamburger (I substituted turkey, no ill effects)
1/2 pound shell macaroni, half-cooked and drained
1 yellow onion, chopped (chopped fine only if someone dislikes onion; we chopped fairly coarse and it was fine)
1 jar or 1 large can Libby's tomato juice (about 1 quart); more if needed
1/2 tsp paprika
1-1/2 tsp garlic salt
Brown hamburger and onion; pour off excess grease, but leave a bit for flavor. Cook macaroni until partially softened, but not entirely, so it will absorb sauce. Add rest of ingredients to pot, bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer until tomato juice is nearly absorbed and macaroni is done, about 2-3 hours (editor's note: start checking at 1, mine was done at about 1:15 or 1:30). Add more juice during cooking if needed.
Mom's notes suggest serving with tossed salad and garlic bread; it definitely goes well with the latter, I didn't have the former on hand but I did have fresh veggies, which went nicely.
