Wheeee.
Town Easter egg "hunt" in less than an hour now. Hunt is in quotes because they just set the plastic eggs out on the grass at the ball fields and turn the kids loose age-by-age in separate sections.
Candy, prizes, all that. Yes, we're going. Wish me luck, but this is the only scheduled thing I need to deal with this weekend. (Scott is taking Ian to a birthday party tho.)
And as usual, my instruction to my kids will be: NO PUSHING, whether they're smaller or bigger than you. This is a non-contact sport.
His first year doing it, Ian stopped and opened eggs, and got all of three. He doesn't do that any more, but you know, I'm fine with it if he does. I like watching them get all excited. I don't mind if they don't get anything else out of it.

What I posted on Facebook just now about this:
This is the first year without the store that used to sponsor it (they're closed, so no surprise they're not sponsoring it). They'd provide a few large prizes and a whole bunch of little-to-medium ones that had to be claimed in the store, plus candy and whatnot.
This year it was a church that sponsored it. Eight bikes and several large treat eggs were the ticket prizes, to be claimed right on site. The rest were all little candies and toys, more of the latter than the former. Which is awesome, but I feel guilty because I didn't put any candy in the boys' Easter baskets because usually they get too much sugar here. LOL
The kids had a lot of fun, and I like the simplicity of going there and then home without having to go stand in line at a grocery store.
My two instructions to the boys were: follow all the rules the egg hunt folks give, and NO PUSHING.
They followed my rules. I'm happy. Andrew ran up and down the field until we called him back because he was still egg hunting and there were noooo eggs left. Ian grabbed about as much as Andrew did (Ian went first), there were still tons of eggs on the field (fewer kids in his age group, and he is fast), and he came over to me and said he was done and had enough.
Made. My. Day.
