Heat. Strange accomplishments (?). Useless but cool compliments.
Still too hot today. Moved the AC in the computer room closer to the window to shorten the hose to limit the heat-dump a bit. Unfortunately, we both sit too close to the window and where we sit is almost the LAST area to cool down. It's lovely in the rest of the room, though, and it's better than it would otherwise be back here, so.... Must insulate that hose better, though. The one in the bedroom is no issue, but there it is aimed at the areas we most often occupy.
Reading Mad Maudlin which I got from the library. I do like that series. I've got Laura Resnick's The White Dragon waiting for me here, and then four books have come in on my holds at the library. By the time I finish both of these and go to get those, I think all the beadwork books I have holds on will be in. I may just collapse beneath a pile of books.
Today, I got the stuff that needed to be done by the end of the week, done. And went on to start on things that weren't mine but I could tidy out of the way to speed things up. I picked two half-day tasks, one of which I really wanted to do, the other of which will be annoying. I then did the one I really wanted to first (because it was a 2-4 hours task, I was pretty sure it was more '2' than '4', and I didn't have 4 hours left unless I wanted to stay late - AND because it was fun). That didn't work so well. I found out that the code we assumed wasn't there was, it just had to be switched on. So I triggered the options in the setup files - something trainers and end-users can do, nemmind me - and voila, it worked!
So I did a couple other things and will do the less-fun (but still development, yay development!) one tomorrow, because by the time I confirmed this, tested it, noted that in fact this option is available in our current version, and sent the emails, I definitely didn't have time for a full four-hour development run - and for small things like that, I'd really rather not stop in the middle, it's silly.
On the ongoing house saga, no new information from the association, but one of Scott's coworkers lives in the neighborhood (which he did not know), and they were talking. Coworker said, "Oh, you live down near the blue house!" Scott said he lived in the blue house, and his coworker said what a great color it was. Apparently he was rather offended/outraged when Scott went on to tell him we had to repaint it, and the story. (I'm sure Scott can correct me when he reads this, if I messed this up.)
Hearing that cheered me up immensely, and amused me. I do not have to end with a blue house to be happy in this. But it is immensely gratifying to know that many people do not think we are insane for liking this color, and more think the scenario of approving a color and then "unapproving" it is unacceptable. It's very validating, even if validation means nothing other than an ego boost. Ego boosts are good when going through crap like that.
And I really hate this weather.

"Yay development!" You've been reading too much grouchy old cripple?
Nice that you got a good comment on the color, and the approve/oops-not-really thingee. I admit that you can probably live with another color, but sometimes you almost wonder if somebody throws work to paint companies, etc. (Yep, that's just your mother, flinging whatever. But really, sometimes you actually *do* wonder...)
Anyway, enjoy. Whatever color ensues.
But I liked this blue. In case I forgot to mention it.
