Wheeeeeeeee!

So far pretty darned good. Got my allergy shots and ran errands yesterday; played lots of World of Warcraft with Scott (because we are sick geeks - sick, but higher-level and happy!). Today we drove out to the Columbia River Gorge. I took some photographs. I also went up a .2 mile trail to see the waterfall (with Scott). This was a mistake; it was cold and my sinuses were stuffed. Result: breathing cold air thru the mouth, sore throat. Scott very nicely scared up a hot chocolate for me when we got to the Multnomah Falls lodge (the snack bar had one - it wasn't open yet but the attached snack cart was and he got it for us!) and that took care of that - most of it, the rest, time dealt with. Much happier.

We stopped at the outlet stores, failed to buy anything despite actually seeking things. Came home. More World of Warcraft, and Scott made dinner. I very cleverly burned my finger on a hot burner (there was stuff sitting on the burner next to it and no sign the stove had been used at all, so I started to set my plate down and my finger hit the burner first - ow!). It is not too bad a burn but it stings a great deal (as burns will) - I applied cold water and have been icing it, which mostly deals with the pain. It's not even blistered so far as I can see, so - I'm a whiny little thing. Burns hurt.

Tomorrow, allergy shots again and more errands. Whee!

Oh, and Orbitz is on my "ick" list. I went there to book our Gencon flights. The top two cheap ones were both fine; I picked my preferred one (for no layover in Chicago O'Hare) and selected. The select button was in between the two in question but clearly in the frame for the one I wanted. Both had the same first day, it was the return that differed. When I hit select, it gave me an entirely different flight that arrived hours later due to an extended layover on the Wednesday flight in. Um. Where did it find this?? So I tried it again. Same results. So much for Orbitz. I'll be hitting another site when I feel more like wrestling with 'em. Probably Travelocity.

Hey, I've been there! As soon as I read it, I thought of my family's road trip to the west coast and back in 1988. Tall, narrow, multi-level waterfall with a bridge. I looked it up and it's exactly like that. Wow. Over half a lifetime ago and I still remembered it so vividly. It really is a beautiful spot, if a bit touristy. I remember the sound it made. Cool. Thanks. :)

Orbitz has been getting a lot of negative publicity recently. I can't remember which mailing list/blog I saw it on, but there were lots of comments from people who selected Orbitz' recommended (and cheap) flight choice, later discovered that it went in, then out of two different airports in the San Francisco Bay area with no connecting link. And not enough time to make the next flight even via taxi. Then refused to refund the purchase because "You selected the flight."

They are off my list forever.
