Good night, Babe.

We had Babe put to sleep this morning, as we'd thought would be the case. Emotional ramblings under here. )

A few photos and a video of her, linked )

There are some photos of her in the last few days - not bad ones - that I may upload later. For now, the ones here are all a little older.

Snow on the Ridge.

So, I took some video of the snow at my parents' house on Saturday. Snow, and birdsong, and bright green grass. (And a clumsily-wielded umbrella that sneaks into the shot. Oops. But it kept the camera from getting soaked with snow, so....)

Miscellany

1. Really, really impressive hockey goal (won the game for them, too): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-x0PNiuGVg

2. Game tonight. Have to meet someone at parents' house to clean it tomorrow night. Not really here until Friday except in brief moments (like this).

3. Game tonight. 7th Sea. MUCH MUCH fun. My character took someone who was supposed to be blocking us and basically convinced him there was no point to it, made socially nice to him, planted some seeds that maybe we aren't what his trading house has been told, and turned him loose. (He has no idea how happy he is about this, as other members of the group might well have hurt him if she hadn't pulled this off.) She also sent a politely obnoxious note back to his lord and master, basically poking at him without ever crossing reasonable boundaries. And I was probably the least cool member of our group. One character, the Vodacce character, told a tale to one of the Winter Court (yes, the Sidhe)...and rolled a 55. Roll and keep. Gorgeous roll. Absolutely gorgeous. He's now a bard of the winter court. Sometimes, making a good impression is an iffy thing.... The Captain almost got trapped in fae. The admiral neatly negotiated his place and got out with minimal fuss, and I think made a decent impression (not spectacular, perhaps, but I'm not sure of that). And the Ussuran...well, learned some things about her past. (She's an amnesiac....) It was wonderful. It was just wonderful. Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] terram.

4. Heard a radio ad for ODS health insurance. I gotta say, Oh-Dee-Ess is not a good name for anything you want me to buy, let alone anything so dependent on service. Sounds too much like "odious". But amusing!

5. Babe. Babe, our clumsy overweight kitty, is dropping weight and being less clumsy. Tonight, she was on Ron's chair and she jumped to the floor and up to my chair. One maneuver: chair to floor to leg, bouncing, not pausing to gather herself. Startled the heck out of me but the only injury was a scrape on my hand that was in the way, not claws sunk into my leg to catch herself. (When she jumped to Scott's chair from a standing-on-the-floor position later, all I can say is he's lucky he was wearing medium-heavy pants.)

And now I am off to bed because, well, it's late!

So, videos.

I videotaped my visit to the Japanese Garden last weekend, and I intended to get them up on YouTube. But Flickr now has a video feature, so I uploaded one to each, and after a bit of comparison, I prefer the video quality at Flickr. (It's limited - no more than 90-second snippets - so I may still use YouTube for other things. Who knows?)

Anyway, videos:
The waterfall in the strolling pond garden.
The deer scare, between the strolling pond garden and the natural garden.
A little area with a waterfall in the natural garden.
A view of the sand and stone garden.
Part of the flat garden.

And three videos not of the garden:
Apple vs a bug on the window. She'd have better odds if the bug were on the INSIDE.
Babe fights a feather toy and attacks the mat she's lying on more than the toy.
And then Babe does it some more. So there.

Snow!

Christmas morning snow at our house. Unfortunately, conversion to YouTube made this less neat and obvious than it was on my computer, but, it's still visible. And yes, that's Scott at the very end, admiring the snowfall from under the safety of our front porch roof. (And talking to his relatives about the snowfall. I think his parents, but it may have been his aunt and uncle, I'm not sure.)

A new video: Apple, chasing her tail on the cat tree.

I don't know what got into her, but I know what got out: any semblance of a brain. ;) Hee.

A new Apple video....

First, a verbal funny. Apple just now mrrrred and then walked out of where she was hiding, between the blinds and the sliding glass door to the deck. Scott, laughing: "We have growling curtains!"

This is on the longish side, at just over 2 minutes. But it's hysterical. Apple the acrobat. And a few cameos by Babe, who appears a little disgusted with the whole affair (or possibly with the attention Apple was getting). It's a pity that Apple camouflages against the beanbag so well, it was even funnier in person (and would be funnier still against a pale beanbag, I suspect). The toy is a fishing-rod type pole, very flexible, with a cord on it, the cord having a little denim rectangle tied to the end of it.

This one was on the dark side (very) so I lightened it, so if it looks a little overprocessed...well, it probably was? *meek*

Now, it's bedtime for me.

Apple is insane. And so am I.

And frankly I think this is too, too cute. It's about 30 seconds long, and yes, she's playing with a toy while I hold her with hind legs dangling. (Watch the hind legs - they twitch occasionally. Hee.) Not once did I have a serious concern that she'd hurt me - no clawing, nothing. She is so gentle. There's no sound, btw - don't think it's your speakers. I wasn't saying anything interesting (except at the end when I told Scott how to stop the recording - this was done with my point-and-shoot still camera, which has a video mode), and the radio was on.
