Scott ([livejournal.com profile] terram) and I went over to visit my parents ([livejournal.com profile] pheon and [livejournal.com profile] pheontoo) today. It was a good visit, and good to see them again; the fact that it was on Father's Day was a nice bonus, though it was mostly due to chance. (Look! A weekend that will work, a day that will work! Gee, it's also father's day...cool!) *grins* We had some nice conversations (I am not sure the folks currently doing various transportation construction in Portland would have appreciated the opinions, but that's okay, they weren't there :). There are more vineyards up there again - somehow I am not surprised, although it was strange seeing all the signs crop up. Used to be filbert-and-hay territory. Still is to some degree but the vineyards are becoming more common.

Got to see the new well, not that there's much exciting about it considering it's just a marker mid-pasture. The well itself is a Very Good Thing, though.

Said "hi" to Basta and Babe, the resident house cats, and petted them. Basta didn't object; Babe was a bit twitchy. We disrupted her routine, her nice patterned existence. Funny the younger of the two is the less flexible. Basta looks remarkable, considering she's at least 20, maybe 21. Beautiful cat. There's a wild cat (from last year's kittens) who looks almost her twin, glossy black and beautiful, though of course since Basta was spayed, they're not related. Beautiful cat, though. She has three kittens - two blacks and a black and white - of her own. Sigh. Feral cat population explosions are so interesting. :P I only got to see the black-and-white kitten, the other two had made it into hiding (well, so had that one, but it was peering out) by the time Scott and Dad dragged my attention back that way.

By the time we left, my allergies were just barely reacting, but not badly; so I avoided an all-out allergy attack, which is promising. This visit was shorter than some, but I'll take what promise I can get. (Yes, I still have to take medicine before going over. It is in the country, and I think "the country" could almost be listed as one of my allergies as there's very little of it not on the list. *wry*)

I did take some photographs, but I haven't processed them to see if there are any worth uploading. I suspect not, unless one of my cat photos chanced to come out; I was not in as much of a photography mood as I sometimes am. This may be in part because yesterday I went to the Japanese Gardens and the Rose Test Garden and had a blast and took a lot of photos. Eleven of them were interesting enough and came out well enough to share (and six of those are iris...). Those, I have processed and uploaded to Flickr.
