Scott's workplace strongly encouraged people to go home. He's home. (I threw a snowball at him when he got here. Maybe I can lure him out for a snowball fight!)

Our neighbor says they're requiring traction devices on the freeway. I'm not sure where but it sounded like she commuted north, toward Portland.

One of Scott's coworkers (at least) drove in from Salem. He's got an ugly drive home ahead of him.

I'm REALLY glad this morning that we went to the midnight sale for Burning Crusade. Because if we had not, I do not think we would have it before tomorrow at the soonest. And it's kinda neat. :)

We're truck drivers, but we're not stupid like some. When they've got the chain signs out, we hunker down and don't move. By law we're supposed to carry chains, but ours are still brand new in the original boxes. I love your area of the country though. I just wish we got jobs going that way more often.

I am fiercely jealous, because I set my alarm incorrectly, overslept, and forgot to grab the receipt proving I preordered BC as I was running out the door. Given how late I will be getting off, I will not have time to go back out.

On the other hand, this means I shall, in fact, sleep at some point before I next go in to work.

Also? I am so, so, so very glad you had stayed home to begin with!

I'm speechless. I wish it was our real tractor, but I'm not well versed in photoshop.

They are even talking about the possibility of people waking to a small amount of snow at sea level in the SF area. The on-line forecasts talk of rain though. I hear from [livejournal.com profile] marswalker that the Mojave area is heading down to single digits, it has already cost him a great deal of damage to his house.

Do be careful.

At least studded tires are allowed up there, though not something you are likely to have if you weren't expecting to need them. In NH they have freezing rain each winter and studded tires and chains are illegal. Very helpful.

Yes, the roads round Bend are trashed by the studded tires.

Although I have chains, three sets, two wire and one old fashioned, I have managed to avoid using them. I hope to continue to avoid their use too.

Was it your birthday today? Or is that tomorrow? Happy Birthday!
