I am getting ready to head downtown, and the phone rang with a "this is just a survey" call. As a general rule I don't care for the time that telephone surveys take and I tell them I don't have enough time.

This time, I had to interrupt her to do so. I really wanted to get the stuff done that I was trying to get done, and her intro spiel telling this was just a survey and wouldn't take very long went on and on and on without ending. Take a breath, lady. So I finally talked over her, then apologized for it.

It was for the financial services folks at my bank. They're not winning points with me this way, but I like the bank, so I suppose I'll cope. And at least once I said I didn't have time, she dropped the spiel and got off my phone quickly and politely.

Since when is the "not selling anything, survey, not much time" spiel extended and made repetitive to the point of being an aggravation in itself?? I thought the point of that set of lines was to make me want to stay on the phone long enough to actually answer their questions!
