So, Scott's email is the primary on our DSL account. So they emailed him they were going to change our ip's, and a time, and he agreed it was good, and they sent him new info. (This is according to their tech support; Scott is asleep, as he is also not feeling well.)

Lo and behold, the time came: 5 pm on Tuesday. And I was abruptly dropped from my net connections, which I was half-paying heed to, since I had come home early not feeling well and was now trying to work on the laptop. And I was much distressed....

...because Scott didn't tell me about this! So I had no idea why the hell I'd just lost net. The DSL modem was trained up; but neither machine had any net, suddenly. I figured first it was just the mush I'd been dropped from, then web pages didn't load and tracert wouldn't work, not even the first hop. So I called tech support, and got all of the above.

And the new ip address for my machine, as you can tell as I am posting this. And a note on the account to send information to both email addresses.

Which I should not need, dammit. Oh, well.

I'm sure, since he's not feeling well, it was just spaced. But I was in the middle of a conversation with someone who was gone when I got back. And it took me 45 minutes to realize I'd lost connection, realize I'd lost net, decide it wasn't a transient problem, call tech support, get tech support, fix the settings, and restart.

Dammit.
