(per Yahoo weather, but they all look moderately similar)
Today: Rain/wind, 42/35
Tomorrow: Showers, 40/33
Sunday: Light snow, 31/13
Monday: Mostly cloudy, 21/8
Tuesday: Sunny, 25/16
Wednesday: Partly cloudy, 33/29
Thursday: Partly cloudy, 38/29
...well, then.
Yes, I know. This is normal for this time of year where some of you are. This is the Willamette Valley floor in Oregon I'm talking about, however. Not on the east-west path for the Columbia Gorge winds from eastern Oregon's high desert, nada. Nothing like an arctic front to equalize things! Of course, we'll see if it actually materializes, but if they're wrong, I suspect it won't be by enough to turn Sunday-Tuesday's lows into non-freezing temperatures. And we get rain right before it, which means we should get sheet and/or black ice under Sunday's light snow. Lovely. Because Oregon handles slick roads so well.
Scott and I are planning to get errands done today and (one, non-essential) tomorrow. If the weather materializes as bad as they said, we'll be all set to hole up at home. (Actually, if it turned that bad today, we would be, but I'd rather have a few things from the grocery store before then, and suchlike.)
Oh, and we're under a high wind advisory from 1 pm today until 4 pm tomorrow. Bonus fun, but much more common than the cold weather swooping in on us. (The average low about this time of year, for contrast, is 33. Average high is around 46. Of course, those averages are made by a mix of warmer weather and times like this. Sunday and Monday, if they meet their forecast, will break record lows, though.)
Truth be told, I kinda hope we get more snow than they're forecasting. I like snow. Just straight freezing, while unusual and therefore interesting, not so much fun, especially after rain. But I like snow. It's pretty. And fun.
...I just realized. I have my next OB appointment on Monday. THAT won't be fun. Well, we'll see what shape the roads are in. She may have to cope with my canceling and rescheduling if they're bad. The real question is the driveway to the clinic (on a hill, but in a hospital complex), and the roads in my neighborhood (two blocks worth) - the rest of it is major roads and freeways (assuming I take the long route, which I would if it's icy - even if they clear the roads, they may not have cleared the shorter route and it has in any case too many curves and hills for my taste when it's cold).
