Yeah, the Midwest is a fairly crappy zone for AT&T...I remember being on a client site in Indiana with a work phone and having to stand on one side of an outdoor path, because on the other side there was suddenly no reception. (Building shadow, I think, and the reception wasn't great where it was present, but it was steady at least.)

Here, AT&T and T-Mobile are probably the best two for coverage, with Sprint as a third. I dunno about Sprint, but T-Mobile has craptastic reception at our house (friends with it are lucky if their phones ring, and you can totally forget holding a call). AT&T has decent (not spectacular) reception here, good reception at my workplace, had good reception at my parents' house (I signed with them back when that still was a factor), basically everywhere I go. (They do NOT have good reception inside my husband's work building, but neither does anyone else, so.... Just outside or in the cafeteria is fine, so it's the building, not the area.)

And they're my company's carrier, and we get a very pretty discount on the monthly fees because of that.
