Sometimes, non-technical folks say the cutest things. One of our clients, trying to think of the word "network activity logs" said something about those network uh...checks, network scrapes.

Actually, considering how that sort of data generally looks, the term is sadly appropriate....

Apparently no one in my office is curious. Despite an email to the office group, no one has tried the Kettle Corn.

I wonder if they'll get around to it, or if it will fossilize on the counter in the break room?

I'm not sure if this is good or bad.

"The five major television news organizations reached a joint agreement yesterday to follow the suggestion of the White House and abridge any future videotaped statements from Osama bin Laden or his followers to remove language the government considers inflammatory."

....

On the one hand, they have a point. On the other hand...on the other hand, the language is out there. It's been said. How is our (partial, anyway) ignorance of what he is saying supposed to help us, exactly?

*yawn* Re-re-recompile.

So far today looks long, but productive, with lots of dead time waiting for a compile to complete. On the other hand, so far my changes are working.

And my VP (? sort of? I hate the middle of a reworking of the structure) is aware of my vacation time and, despite it being two weeks in the middle of a revenue push, has not overruled it or asked me to shorten it.

Which is good. I don't want to end the year with more than I'm permitted to carry. I also don't want to end the year brain-fried from stress! :)

So I didn't bring lunch today, and I went down to the deli earlier to get a snack and some cider; I ordered the special to be ready closer to noon. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce...in other words, a repeat, and it was very good the first time.

Not quite. I didn't look close enough. It was a turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce sandwich. With tomato and lettuce and (I think) cream cheese (not much).

Color me surprised, and a bit dismayed, at first.

On the other hand, it tastes okay, even if it does seem an odd concept.

But I think I'll read the specials more carefully, in the future. :)
