Got home from dropping the car off at 5:30 yesterday (oil change, but too many people ahead of me - so I came home to wait my hour+). Went upstairs sometime between then and 6:00 (not sure) to read a book. Woke up (!) at 6:45 or so, I think...not sure. I called the dealership to see if I'd missed a call to come get it, but no, it was delayed further, about 45 minutes.

I stayed up till they called, and I went to get it (at 7:30 - I didn't look at the clock when I got up, so assuming I got up at 6:45 is based on assuming their estimate was close, always dangerous ;).Drove it home, chatted with people online, and headed upstairs a little after 8:00, because I was dragging.

Post-shower, I was in bed at 8:30. At 9:30 I woke enough to realize I'd forgotten a pill I should have taken at 9:00 pm, came downstairs, took it, went right back to bed.

The alarm goes off at 6:30. I got up at 6:50, after the third time it went off - I hadn't even heard the first two. Either Scott is amazingly quick on the snooze button, or I was really dead to the world.

I feel alive, now. Not hyper-awake, but alive.

If I get tired this afternoon, I'm assuming I'm coming down with something, and coming home.... Granted that was broken sleep, till the last part, but it was rather a lot of it. Eep.

My right ear aches, just a little. My sinuses have been annoying for a while, due to allergies, but I thought I had it under control, with the decongestant.

I'm really hoping the ear is just my imagination, especially given how long I slept last night.

*crosses fingers* Otherwise, I really do feel fine.

I'd sweat, but I'm too busy grinning. We have date commitments on a huge number of the things we need to do for projects. One left assigned to my team.

Of course, they're probably all gonna go to visit whoever runs that nice hot place down below, and get to take the trip in a pretty handbasket woven through with flowers at that. But that's my cynical side talking. My boss is still trying to be insular and make sure that only people who know the language and setup well work on items to be done in it. And it's right, and it's wrong, because they'll never learn...and right now, the list lists a whole bunch of other people for items. If they don't do those items, they'll land on my team...and some of those items are higher-priority than some of what we'd be doing next month. Not to mention, harder, in some cases.

It would totally reshuffle our planning. We'll see what happens. We'll adapt, and at least, if our planning gets totally reshuffled, we'll have a reason for it.

One item remains without a date commitment. It's low-priority, and it also needs some research and design before we know what we're getting into. But I think, if things stand as they are, our date commitments will let us get the "key" items all done this year.

I hope we're right about how long they'll take. I really don't enjoy overtime, and at this point...absent new tasks or major disasters derailing them, these are our dates. Every person on my team sat there and said, "Yes, I can do that." And yes, they now have to do it; I have to do what I said. We can do this. If we screwed up our guesses, though, we're gonna get very sick of this office by the end of the year.

If we pull it in early, which I judge more likely for two of us (I'm tackling the hard stuff and also most likely to get sidelined by management stuff; and the other guy is a "loaner" - so I don't know his skills as well, and I'm not sure if his estimates are on or not - plus he may get pulled away, but his boss estimated that, we doubled the estimate, and built it in to the day)... Well. If we pull it in early, we're gonna look good.

Hey. Results. Things to do. SET things to do. No miracles. No mad crush of work. If it's not on this list, and it's not a bug at an existing site...it doesn't exist till the list is gone, unless we're given orders it exists. Which change the commitment, but....

I actually love it when we do this. It's amazing how much I enjoy being able to say, I need to do this, by then, and that's my goal and my focus.
