Customer service paged me this morning. Twice. I didn't get either one. Not didn't hear: didn't get. Pager a foot from my head, no beep. No messages, either.

They called. I really wish someone would find and fix the database issue at this site. Talk guy through killing reconnect-to-drive stuff that was failing in Windows, restart system, system not quite right. Talk him through restarting the fragment he saw, while I'm at it, so the mobile terminals will be connected to the rest of the world. :) Database no back.

Dial in, whack on database with commands given to team by DBA. Database back. Restart our programs, database all connect nice.

Test pager. No low battery warning. Select alert, alert already set to audio, select that. Beep nice and loud, loud to wake the dead. Call pager number. Dial in message with terminating pound-sign (required). Wait five minutes. No message.

Dammit. This is not a happy thing. Notnotnot.

The problem at the client site was easy to solve, even if getting ahold of me apparently wasn't.

Another friend has a character on Amber. Yay! I really do love that place, and much about its style, though I can understand why some people don't.

And I'm going to go get sleep now, which is also a Good Thing.
