Much better. Scott fixed my computer. It took three hours, a new set of graphics drivers (stupid ... grrr ....) and a couple other tweaks (I appear to have lost one display-tweaking program and gotten another, given I never use the darned things anyway, I don't mind...). But it's working. It will run everything it would before, plus EQ.
*sighs* I'm fine, as long as everything does what I'm told it will do. Thank goodness he's better than I am at troubleshooting driver/hardware type stuff. I can deal with OS weirdnesses, program weirdnesses, but drivers? Ack. Frustration, generally.
And all is good now. And my contacts appointment went fairly smoothly, at least, and we confirmed the prescription is Pretty Darned Good (there was some chance we'd have to go to another one, isn't that a lovely thought? - and still is, but less likely now ;). So I'm fairly happy about that. I have a couple pounds of chocolates (courtesy of gift certificates from Scott), which is a nice thought too.
And I had enough time before picking pager duty back up from M. that I was able to go through the mall and nail off three more gift tags. Two left to go, and I know several places that ought to have the items in question. I know two places I definitely can get things that technically qualify, but neither's what I'd choose for the requests. Ah, well. We'll see. That's for next week, when P. has the pager. (I'd say it's for the weekend, but the last collection is Wednesday, so....)
