I had an all-day meeting/talk with the geo information specialist (who helps clients set up their data, processes, etc.), so he could learn how our system handles the data. And it seems to make sense to him, and he seems to approve, and so far it looks like we can very much make it work with his paradigm.
I got to explain part of my baby to someone attentive, and they understood and liked it, and made some comments that let me see how I can (without breaking anything, even, yay!) make it stronger.
Of course, I got almost no coding done, since that was most of the day, but I think we clarified it quite a bit. I'm sure there'll be more questions in the future (this isn't a one-day learning thing, alas), but...yay! It went well.
I'm taking work home again tonight to try to pick up some of that time, but hopefully it will be survivable. The holidays are such an awkward time to be work-overloaded.
We've hired someone for the position finally, starting in the new year. (And the equipment request went through on time, always a plus - we could certainly 'borrow' one of the test machines, but talk about a pain!)
Now to get MY new laptop configured (probably, hopefully, I'll work on that a little tonight but mostly this weekend). Aie.
And speaking of work, my build has finished, new compile to start and then I go home and work there thankyouverymuch. ;)
