Let's see. I'm at work, have answered three emails, and am busy running the update program for my desktop. My laptop is running a compile of the system in the background, so I can give N. something to test.

I have the new contacts in. Sure enough, minus the lint (I cleaned the left lens especially carefully, in case any had remained), they're not at all bad to wear. I think - oh, need a week to be sure - I think we've found the right lenses. I can't judge if the prescription will need tweaking, of course; but I can wear them, and they seem to mostly stay where they belong. And when they get out of place, they blink back, like they're suppoesd to, like the first set did.

Sans lint, I got used to them fairly quickly. I'm feeling like I can deal with these.

It's grey out this morning. Not really raining, but threatening it with every breath and touch of wind. Quite pretty.

...don't get this virus please. Judging from the description page, it's not hard to recognize it as a virus, but you really don't want it to go off.

Why do these idiots make the damn things, anyway? Ooo, me so important, me can wreck computer.

So can a three-year-old with a bowl of custard, brainless nits. And the three-year-old will probably be more entertaining, at least.

N. and I both calmed down after a relatively peaceful week (mine at work, hers on vacation, but peaceful for both of us) and this morning we both tried to apologize for being unreasonable in the conversation the Friday before Christmas. Yay, yay. All is good again.

And soon, soon, I will have a real chain of command again. Wednesday. Which is also when R. starts, so hopefully I will be prepared by then. I know roughly what needs to be done, so it will be fine. *nods*

This week is getting off to a very nice start. And I even made a sandwich this morning, so no dependency on the deli today.

...and I think it's him. K. was just in here wanting to know what the "subnet of the demo domain" (? What demo domain, what subnet, huh?) is, so he could find the ip of a new piece of hardware he unpacked and plugged in. Well. Ummm. As you just unpacked it, I would venture a guess it's whatever the manufacturer's default is. Regardless, I'm quite clueless.

Things are changing. I know who my new supervisor is (Y., who was my supervisor before - he's been poking in on things because he already knew, but they forbade him to tell us - they had to). So now that makes a bit more sense. He wouldn't be my first choice, but neither my last; it'll be okay, I think.

And meanwhile, at least I am not the frontline. That's a lovely thought.

The subnet of the demo domain....

I was scening Zul. First time in...ages, and story scene, at that, actually being staff-run. And it was cool, and it was fun, and I want to reread the poses and I want to know what happened.

My DSL cut out in the middle. It's been over 15 minutes as I write this and I still can't get back. I suppose they must have (or will soon) go on without me. And to add insult to injury, when trying to set up auto-reconnect attempts (which didn't work when I got it set up), I hit ctrl-E by mistake and closed the window.

Which I hadn't yet saved to a goddamn log. I hate that key combo more than anything else about SimpleMU. I hate it.

I hope someone else has a log, and will at least share with me till I dropped, if not the whole thing.

I called my DSL provider straight away, of course, but it's New Year's Eve. I'm probably fucked. Modem's all trained up but I can't even ping my gateway. It did this yesterday, too. What are you pea-brains DOING?

I hope, perversely, that they didn't go on. But if they didn't, then that's six people (counting the staff) besides myself nailed by my stupid connection. But I really felt like I was a part of it and what my character did might matter. I resent being dropped during that. I wouldn't like being dropped during a fluff-cuteness scene or one where I was background and could fade away, but...dammit, I want to be part of this.

I wish they could have killed my connection sometime when I wasn't doing much, instead of the first time I've rp'ed in a while. Dammit, dammit.

I'm getting more kitten-toys sewn, though, in between punching retry obsessively.

Thanks, hevanet. Nice new year's present. Jeesh.

*gets back on, almost half an hour later, and goes to find out if she's even still icly present*

*taking deep breaths* Sorry for the grumbles. It was just really frustrating, especially being the first time in a while I'd gotten to rp, and having a Story, besides.

It had progressed while I was missing, but not beyond my ability to come back in, and I'm having fun again.

Still mad about the dsl. Jeesh.

What color are you test. What can I say? It said blue, though white was a close second. Those two are quite at odds and, between them, they seem to me to suit me fairly well.

Of course, it's all generic, to make it work. I know that. But it's still amusing. I'll share the link-stuff, but I hate to spam anyone who's not interested, so....

Links and meaning and pics and stuff. )

For today, anyway. That was a very cool scene. Rainbow is wonderful. And was very nice about my being a scatterbrained, upset player when I got back from the DSL drop. I really felt - part of that scene, and contributing, and weaving it in that neatly when my character is (go have a look at her!) basically a housecat...well. That was very cool.

I had fun. I even had fun after the drop, once I got back into things and lost the irritation mood. Much fun.

Have I mentioned that Rainbow's cool? (So, for that matter, is everyone else who was in that scene.)
