So, we made an offer on a house today. For those of you keeping score at home, it was the place with the creek. The backyard needs some work (lovely Oregon clay, and I'd like it to stay there, so some ground cover at least is a must). It has forced-air gas heat, but no central A/C (we should be able to add that at some point in the future), is DSL-ready, and has an ethernet cable running from the living room up to the room we plan for our computer room (nothing like buying a house from computer geeks, right?).

It will do very nicely. Here's hoping the current owners like our offer or, at least, counteroffer rather than turning us down. (I think, honestly, they'll accept it on the face of it.)

You know, normally, I don't find things that kill animals funny. But the way this one was presented....

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rauros for this quote, and please don't follow this link if you don't want to see a mention of scorched squirrels. (It's actually about power issues. But the phrasing...got to me, somehow.)

Okay, someone asked (quite understandably) whether the staircase on the house post was at the house. Nope. It's from the Japanese Gardens and is my present image for 'journey' - things of exploration and change. Getting a new house (our first house) seemed to qualify, but I hadn't thought about the image in that context, I admit.

Meanwhile, I have uploaded actual pictures of the house. Amusingly, I don't seem to have any of the front - for now, trust me, it's okay, not horribly ugly, but not spectacular the way the views from it are, either. To see some of the interior shots and the views out the back, check out the "House" folder at:
