From work, yep. Still no DSL at home. The dial-up I carefully had my ISP enable?

Wasn't. Tried to get in last night, wouldn't take my password. Since I got off work at almost 8 and made a run to the apartment for stuff, it was late enough I just left them a voice mail and went to sleep.

Someone got my voice mail overnight and cleaned it up; this morning, my user name and password worked.

Now I need to hit their web site and find out what they've changed in their stupid network settings since I last had to dial in, because my system insists it can't find an agreeable middle ground with them. Color me unamused, so far.

By the time I get my stupid dial-up working, I'll probably have DSL anyway.

But I do have my desktop up and running and positioned exactly how I want it, and most of the stuff that's going to the house is there now. (Crock pots, mixer, dishes, some food, and a few miscellany still have to go. Plus the deck chairs. Anyone get the impression we left the kitchen for the last? Heh.)

I'm on. From home!

DSL is still out. Dunno what's up with that, need to call them again. Dial-up does not work for my desktop, but does for my laptop.

This means I have most things but not my email. Still, getting closer. (Desktop is Windows 98, laptop is XP. Attempting to compare the connection settings? Going nowhere, awfully quick.)

But...I'm on...while string out the window at the very pretty trees, and listening to birds chirp.

I swear. I thought ice cream trucks were something from, like, decades ago. I've hardly heard one but once or twice in my life and never until after I graduated college, not that I can recall.

One came down our street this evening, not long after I got home with the groceries. And it occurs to me that I was very blessed to go so long in such freedom.....

Plus, since it's a dead end past me, it had to come back the same way. That's a really annoying sound after a while. A very short while.

Now to unpack some of this stuff. Whee.
