1. What is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not?

Computer programmer - for computer-aided dispatching systems. It's not what I thought I'd be doing, five years ago (I thought I'd be programming computer games, and in any case didn't even know computer-aided dispatching software existed at the time), but it is what I chose - I like knowing I make a difference, and I like the challenge when it's not absurdly overwhelming.

2. If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be?

Full-time student. No, seriously. I adore learning and playing.

3. What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices?

Dad was a programmer/engineer/management type until he retired. Mom, while mostly a homemaker, also did a stint of temp work and picked up some technical stuff. And yeah, Dad's career path seems to have corrupted me. Exposure to computers at age eight, in an era when that was not yet routine, will do that. :)

4. Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family?

No.

5. In your opinion, what is the easiest job in the world? What is the hardest? Why?

*boggles* I haven't got a clue. And I suspect it depends on the person. Of the numerous jobs I've never tried, I can't even say which one I think would be "hardest" or "easiest" for me.

French Mayor Bans Residents from Dying

Of course, Microsoft announcing more vulnerabilities isn't silly or amusing. But it's not real surprising, either.

This is the third time today I have closed my Outlook email (work email) without meaning to. And each time, it asks if I want to delete everything in my trash, yes no? Give me a freaking cancel button.

And...am I tired enough, you think? *sighs and starts her email again*

Edit, 11 am: Yes, yes I'm tired enough. I called our support group because I could receive but not send email. I'm not sure why it didn't give me an error on receive (since it's the same blasted server), but, see, I'd forgotten to disconnect the VPN connection after doing some work on a client site....

Gah. Coherency and thought are good things. Jeesh!

Now my account doesn't exist. Username/pwd fail and my boss tried to send me email and it bounced. NOT amused.

Oh, well. At least I know it's not a clever way of letting me know I'm no longer employed, not if my boss is wanting it fixed five minutes ago. :)
