Awake. At work. Doing the yearly test of my UPS. We do tend to have power fluctuations during the fall/winter in this building. So I have to wait out five minutes of beeping to make sure it runs computer + monitor for that long. Heh. Always fun being chirped at. (My laptop is just on a surge protector, so I'm just using it right now.)

THERE. Found the little switch to shut that off; I knew it had to be around here somewhere. I suppose I ought to test the other UPS in my office, too, that used to be P's. At least it faces front so it's easier to reach - the way my desk is placed, I couldn't do that.

So far, I don't seem to have been spammed into oblivious, and a good chunk of my to-do list is doable, so.... Off to work on that while the UPS holds up my computer just a bit longer.

...why a few people I know or who post in communities I follow seem to be using some sort of text for their username that is either foreign or garbage, because my system can't render it. Mostly I'm curious because it throws spacing to heck in a handbasket on comment pages: the icon for user and community links appears atop the linked name of the journal....

Oh, and if I highlight the name with my mouse, spaces appear between the white boxes.

I've got my encoding set right for my machine, but I wonder what font I don't have. Either that or they're trying to be a pain inna neck. :)

But I won't buy another Hartz product, after reading this. Warning: it's sad, and it's infuriating, if you like cats. And if you have them - well, there's a product to avoid.
