Wheat above the horizon, wheat-colored and large, through the trees, over the trees - high and yellow-white now, watching, guarding. Guiding.
I go to bed now. The alarm goes off at 3:30, so I imagine I'll regret being up this late. I forgot I had bills to pay - but I did get those plus all the packing done. That required some housework and searching. Not the evening I imagined, but not bad, I guess. Just have to find a few last things (which had BETTER be in the drawer set aside for them in the master bath - otherwise, I may just buy new ones there, considering we're talking $1 travel toiletries, not a major item or anything).
Purse, camera, all camera accessories, one outfit, and assorted small distractions are in the backpack (with the wallet moved out where I can reach it easily for id and such, not in the purse). Sweater atop it, to remind me to wear; watch will go to the same spot. In a few, the laptop shuts down and gets packed away. Luggage is packed with books for while there, references, and of course clothing. More than I need since I have to pack for a possible range of temperatures. Lucky me. I'm debating adding a proper coat - I almost never wear them, but if it's snowing, it might be worth it. I considered my cloak, but I don't want my precious cloak in the hands of the airlines or possibly getting crushed; but it's not cold enough for it to be comfy to wear most of the trip, I don't think. I may take it anyway...we'll see. We'll see.
At any rate, it's time for the shutting-down part of this. I'll probably check in from there, but I'll no doubt be way more scarce.
Wish me luck, please. Please, wish me luck. I like these people but not nearly enough that I want to have to go back to this site again.
