I'm somewhat ambivalent about this time and day. It's the end of the weekend and also the end of my vacation; tomorrow morning I go back to work, and it's going to be a very quick ramp-up because after the project-end moved, it landed on...Tuesday! Yes, indeed, it slipped just enough to envelop my vacation. It looked very good when I left. Hopefully, it still looks good when I return, but we'll see.
On the other hand, it was a good vacation. Most of the back yard work is done (I need a few more ground cover plants), the front flower beds are weeded (not perfectly, but it's a start), and only the side yard remains. The library's done except for a shelf I'll be able to add after I pick it up tomorrow.
I drew. I read a lot of books, and enjoyed the freedom to do so. I went to the coast and brought back gorgeous pictures. I roleplayed online. I've been out of play for a while because of inertia. There's some chance that a good portion of what I roleplayed might not exist (the core cause for it is in question, waiting on word - someone else's story, not mine, but it was the pivot around which my first roleplay went). I rather liked those scenes, but it's not like a change would take away my having experienced them, even if they took away the effects on my character.
My parents dropped off some plants that I'll be tending while they're on their trip. I got my free LJ t-shirt. I played the first session of a table-top game, the second session of which is Tuesday. I had a lot of fun; it got kind of silly.
I went to the Japanese Gardens on a weekday morning. I saw Spirited Away. I did the laundry and the dishes; I cleaned a bit around my desk; I 'borrowed' one of Scott's general roleplaying books and ensconced it in the somewhat-lessened mess (with his slightly bemused blessing; he's not using it just now).
I slept in past the alarm, gloried in it...and got up less than an hour later than normal most days, because I was wide awake. I've eaten gummy bear vitamins, fish sticks, and lobster (but not all at once). I piled extra blankets on the bed when it got chilly (okay, so I would do that with or without a vacation, but hey).
I paid the bills and balanced the checkbook, and boy wasn't that fun. I listened to CDs I haven't listened to in ages because they were buried in stuff and, anyway, so was the upstairs stereo (portable; really, just a slightly-better boom box...), and I'm up here a lot more than downstairs.
And tomorrow, I am sure, someone at work will ask me what I did on vacation, and I'll probably say "not much". Everything will fly out of my brain and I'll remember the coast and the gardening. But just between you and me, the week was a lot better than that.
