My dad rocks; I now have the disc I need to get that software back, and a few other nifties besides. However, I'm not using it just yet....

...my Garden renewal notice came this week. And the membership expires on Monday. And I'm growly and snarly but I was debating going to the garden anyway and if I take it to the gate, there won't be a lapse. (Which would probably be harmless anyway, since I don't go to the Gardens every day, but which would annoy me entirely too much.)

I shall probably regret this immensely, as the place is likely to be tourist-festooned. If so, maybe I'll go to the zoo. They have butterflies. But 8 dollars for butterflies seems a bit much. I will probably wait until the second Tuesday next month or something (which is free, which means it will be jammed, but what the hell).

The real key in this plan is getting my ass out of this house, which has been acceptable and is now growing hotter. And making a right turn at hte first street because today is the annual neighborhood garage sale and, while my end of the street is sane, the other end of it is not. I don't like dodging people on the street. I particularly don't like watching out for fuzzy iddle dogs and not-so-fuzzy iddle screaming brats (and in this heat, that and the zonked-out sleepers who are fortunately not in the street, are probably all the options available).

Except to make myself grumpier and more frustrated. I went to the garden - having called and asked and was told I could renew there. Even though we were discussing my driving up today to renew, the asshat on that phone call saw no need to mention the various events going on nearby, including a Multiple Sclerosis fundraiser of some sort.

Lessee. First we had to get around the clown (literally: face paint and a polka-dot costume) unloading his car in mid-road. Then there was no parking. I circled and circled and eventually came home.

I never even managed to park. Forget getting up there to renew.

You know, I don't think Scott goes any more. I'm going to ask him. If he doesn't, our family plus just became a plain old individual membership, and they can shove the rest of it. I never worried about it before because I wanted to give them money. If they're going to put vaguely rude, useless people on the phone, and send out renewal notices only a week in advance...well, I'm frustrated enough that I don't really want to give them money.

Two. Fucking. HOURS to drive up there and circle and come back. Talk about wasted time.

Shoulda stayed home with the photography programs. I'd've had everything set up and well-played-with by now. Guess I get to start now, anyway.
