The sky is lovely this morning, mostly clear with a few dark bands of clouds as accents. At the horizon, it's light orange and paler mint, shading up through a dusky cyan into night's-shadow-blue.

I appreciate this. Really I do. But I'm tired. My body objected to something-or-other and I didn't actually get to sleep (much; I think I may have dozed a bit before it started) until 1 am.

Oh, well. It's a lovely, clear day out there, my gut seems to be back to normal this morning, and I'm even almost awake, so....

Tonight's game rocked. We spent time properly curing the skin from the great cat killed last session, which took some time, and then journeyed on, finding our destination on the sixth day after we set out. On the journey, our druid found peace enough to recall the spell he had lost in the heat of the moment last session (critical failures are so not a lovely thing). The vineyard had been attacked (four days before we arrived, as we were to learn), and very badly damaged, but some survived. One was a great mage, over 900 years old; he floated everywhere, and to my character's second sense he absolutely glowed. When she looked at him with only the second sight she could see him as a swirling mass of energies.

He told us some stories and myths, the GM had prepared them and they were told really well, very evocative and appropriate to the mood. He told us the myth of the keys; we hadn't heard the myth, but knew the gist, that there were many spread among the races that must be brought together to recreate the great magical artifact, but how many keys or the exact circumstances we didn't know - we have the tale, now. Then, he identified some of the items we'd accumulated as we journeyed for us; he was surprised by some. They are all very wow in factor. Magical axe (the half-orc wields it), sword of the forest (the druid wields it, appropriately enough), magical siege bow (given to my Liden), arrows of reversion (unclear who has them - I suspect they'll be spread among the group, when we stop to assess it, but for now they're packed firmly away lest they hurt our host with it, as they would undo the spells that keep him alive), and a ring. The ring is where the sword of the forest was for this session - you can sheath a knife or sword (up to some size, anyway) in it and retrieve it with a word, if you know the word. The nobleman who leads our party now sheathes his sword in this ring - most peculiarly appropriate.

Wow. Very, very wow. Then we showed him the keys and gave him a bit of wow, and something to lift his spirits in the long task of rebuilding their holding, as well.

We have a long quest ahead of us - a long one and one my character, mercenary though she may be by profession, believes in wholeheartedly. While you breathe, lift your foot: the gods know where to put it down. And she knows, now, that taking this contract was just such a step: she lifted her foot, but They have chosen the path.

Borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] ladywraith. Take any of the 10 I've got but you don't off the list, replace with ones you have.
