Sometimes it's annoying how things happen. We waited for Scott's family to invite us for Christmas - they invite us for most holidays and I did not want to end up turning them down for this one, as we did for Thanksgiving, because my parents had invited us and we'd accepted. But they still hadn't said anything when my parents asked us on Sunday, and so we're having Christmas at their place.
Scott's family left a message that we got Tuesday night. Apparently they'd asked his brother and he was supposed to pass it on to us; I have no idea whether they were unclear about that or what happened, but it got lost. We should have been asked on Thanksgiving.
The meal is at 6 or 7 pm, so Scott is planning to do both. I will go only to my parents' house; I didn't arrange coverage for the pager, because I can connect from their house and the drive, while on the longish side, is still mostly going to allow me to respond in time if I have to. I didn't know of Scott's family's meal until after the last working day we have before Christmas, so there's no changing that now. That, and to, I don't want to do two Christmas meals. Oh, well.
On the online front, someone I very much enjoy scening with is once more active on the only site I'm actively playing on at the moment. And that scene just rocked.
My thumb has gotten annoying. On the plus side, considering that I poked an unknown bit of metal through it in a public restroom, the antibiotics have brought the infection under control. It's down to bruising, and it's reached the edge of the nail at one point, so hopefully it won't do anything too obnoxious now. However, while it no longer hurts constantly, it bugs me when I do any number of simple tasks. For example, changing modes on the cell phone I carry for work when I am on call - I cannot press the buttons on the phone with my left thumb (as I often do the one menu button) without some fair discomfort.... Oh, well, it's not misery and I don't use that finger often in typing. Fortunate, because it does not like anything that puts pressure on the nail from any angle right now. But is otherwise not painful, so....
