1. Do you own a camera? Describe it:

I own a couple cameras. The least-used is the one with the greatest sentimental value, an old Nikon that my dad used. The one that I usually think of when I say "my camera" is a Nikon Coolpix 5400, a smallish (not miniature, though) camera that frustrates people with larger hands. It has a variety of modes, including full auto and manual. It's a digital camera and can take up to 5-megapixel shots (also known as "the shot that ate the memory card" as they're about 14 meg at that resolution).

2. Do you prefer digital or film?

Digital. The camera and media are more expensive at the outset, but you never have to pay for development. Considering the number of pictures I glance at and then throw away, this is a lifesaver. In addition, you can quickly get a rough idea of your results at the time of the shot - and if they don't look promising, you can take another shot (or even throw out the one you already took, if you're quite sure it won't work). Since I am only a casual photographer, this makes it possible for me to get great results without burning through a frightening amount of film...and possibly still failing.

Also, it's a lot easier to get pictures in an uploadable format if they start out that way.

3. When is the last time you posed for a picture?

A couple weeks ago, when they took my photo to put on my file at the allergy clinic (where they double-check that you are the person in the photo, apparently).

4. Tell us about your favorite photograph:

Hmmm. My favorite one of those that I took is a steeply vertical shot of Multnomah Falls that is just lovely. (There's another I took of sun down onto a creek that would join the favorites if only the camera used for it had supported a higher resolution - as it is, the flaws are too visible even in an 8x10 print.) My favorite of others is a triptych of a lake in the fall that I bought from dcpprints. Glowing, lovely colors.

5. Use the flash or flash the camera?

Use the flash.

Kitten! I particularly like the sweatshirt hood and the dishwasher ones....

And hey, happy weekend!
