So, now that I have more of a brain (and some photos) -- the wedding was lovely. It was at about 1 pm and was a civil ceremony in Judge Herndon's office at the Clackamas County Courthouse. It was a short, very pretty ceremony. I quite loved my dress and Scott looked wonderful in his suit (always a good start). We were early (no bad thing: Scott and I got delayed a few minutes paying the fee, and had enough time I didn't even worry about it).
Then we all drove to Forest Grove, where my parents had the Equinox Room at the McMenamins Grand Lodge reserved for us. We sat and chatted, had drinks and nibbled on appetizers - the yam fries are good! - and just enjoyed the afternoon. The room was lovely, and it was also perfectly positioned to catch the sunset through the bushes later. My parents had managed a flower arrangement I wasn't violently allergic to (which I've already posted a photo of) and there was one at each end of the table.
We ordered from the restaurant for dinner, which was brought into us; the consensus was that the food was excellent, always a bonus. Then we had the cake, which was a chocolate raspberry cake. Yummy! I had made favors - vanilla candles in tulle wraps with ribbons/bells inside a candleholder - so each of the guests got one of those. (I have enough candleholders to last me a long time, so I avoided making any for us.)
It was almost 7 pm by the time we packed up and headed out of there, and it truly was a lovely day - everything I'd hoped for, and wonderful company for it as well. (And somehow I managed not to freeze during any of the times I was outside, in spite of being unwilling to put a coat over that dress I was wearing! Good thing I was never outside for long.)
Of course, by the time we got home I was punchy, from the multi-faceted whammy of stress (just because it's fun doesn't mean I can't manage to be stressed!) and lots of people and relatively little food (see stress) and relatively lot of sugar (see cake, which Scott coaxed me to eat a bite of and then I think I ended up eating maybe a third of his slice--). So I forgot most of the sweet gestures I had waiting for us when we got home and we just vegged. We've enjoyed the little treats (and the unexpected treats, like the lovely gifts from our families!) and such over the weekend rather than all at once, which is probably a better idea anyway.
My dad (
pheon) got me the photos from his camera today, and some are now uploaded to my Flickr account (with his permission - thank you, Dad!). As usual, I'm not that thrilled with how I look in most of them. I usually think I look good in 1/10 to 1/5 of the photos taken of me, the rest make me cringe. However, I don't think you would appreciate it if I cropped myself out of them, since I'm the bride and all. As such, if you think I look like a dork in one of them, please pity me - I probably think I do too. *grins* If I don't, then I'm just wrong, which is always a nice thing to be for those moments.
