Sorry I have been relatively non-posting-ish. I have been fairly busy but at the same time it has not been the kind of busy-ness that generates interesting posts, or even the desire to post much. "Still working, work's busy. Doing some fall cleaning on the house, yup. Air conditioners are in winter mode now - out of the windows."
Yeah, real exciting. Though it was nice to have rain this week. (And there was a truly pounding rain the other day: I stood on the front porch just out of it and watched it - what a blast. The kid across the street, who is maybe four or so at the most, had been out playing and retreated into her garage, standing, as I was, just at the edge of the rain, just out of reach.) This morning it is cool and pleasant, with a fairly neutral diffuse light, and the birds are chirping in the trees.
We've had a local news story about a 7-year-old who was a victim of hit-and-run, and who is recovering really amazingly well - they said he'll be home soon, back in school within a couple weeks. However, the reason I write of this is because the radio announcer managed to substitute a "while" for an "after" leading to one of the funniest statements I've heard in a while (and which wouldn't be half as funny to me except the boy is doing okay). It was in the leadup to the story about how well he was recovering, they identified him as the 7-year-old boy who had been "in a coma while being hit by a car while riding his bike."
( Other news rambles, not so funny.... )
And in not-local news, and somewhat older (some of you may have seen it, apparently I'm late to the story!), two men were arrested in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, for dumpster-diving...and were sentenced to six months in jail. Well, agreed to it, because they were given a choice between that and being charged with a felony. For dumpster-diving. Um. ...it's so nice to know we're well-protected in this country.... (There might, of course, be more to it than is obvious - but reading through the comments and so on, I'm not sure that's an improvement.) Articles here and (followup) here.
That's about it. Not so very exciting. :P
