Finished the Harry Potter book. (No spoilers in comments, please - check out my earlier post about it if you want to say anything spoilerish).
Did some cleaning out at my parents' house, again. That stupid fig tree is still there and still on its side. Must talk to the landscaper again. They've failed to right it, so hopefully they'll remove it. (At this point, I think even if they got it upright again, it would likely finish dying. And it's just not that critical that it live. Sheesh.) Not as much as I had intended, since after four hours, the heat and my allergies combined to make me concede defeat.
Stopped in Newberg for the Newberg Old Fashioned Festival, which I haven't gone to since I was young. It was much more interesting then. (Of course, then I also went when there was a parade, which may have helped.) Browsed through booths, watched kids dancing on stage, and wandered off. I was good - didn't buy any fair food. :P
Basta's doing okayish, not great, but not horrid either. Keeping an eye on her. Poor thing, we keep giving her pills, morning and night....
Babe was funny when I got home today. I took my shoes off (tennis shoes, luckily, not my work shoes) and suddenly there was a cat, leaning her back on my foot, with her nose inside my shoe and her paws firmly on it, claws out and latched. I emailed Scott and told him I didn't think I was allowed to leave the house again today!
Much later, Scott, picking up the various cat dishes to put them in the dishwasher, stopped and just laughed. Me, looking up: "What? Oh...." And I cracked up. See, Scott was holding Babe's catnip mouse. Babe's completely sodden catnip mouse. One of them, almost certainly Babe, had managed to toss it into one of the water dishes and leave it there. This is even more funny because that's exactly the fate met by at least one other cat toy (repeatedly) that she had, when she lived with my parents. When they were still kittens, I got them a bunch of toys, including a stuffed plush catnip hedgehog that spent a lot of time swimming. She's still herself, is our Babe!
Got our Harry and David package for this month today. It's peaches. Still ripening, alas, but I am looking forward to them. Meanwhile we have ripe raspberries that I picked up at the store, so I guess we'll survive. ;)
Got another photograph of the vineyard but I have not yet copied it to my computer. I still need to edit the rest of the photos from the trip last month! Aie.
