Photos from the first part of the June trip (not the Wisconsin part, yet) are up at Flickr in two sets. Things and Places and People.

Actually, they were up a day or two ago and some of you may have already seen them. But now I've edited and tweaked the text a little so that I'm happy enough with it to actually post the links. :)

Basta's ashes have been returned to us.

I took Babe in today for her vet visit. Poor put upon cat that she is. The Felv/FIV tests came back negative (yay!), her shots were already current or not necessary (yay!), and she's due to diet (no big shock, though I was STUNNED that she's gained four and a half pounds in seven months - I knew she'd gained, hadn't realized how much, while we were feeding as rich as we could for Basta). So I talked over how much food to have down (something I've never had to worry about before: growing up, most of our cats ate properly, not pig-outs, but Babe seems to lack that self-control; also, growing up, we really couldn't've controlled portion anyway, but I can since she's always indoors here).

And I had them clean her ears. She's had an earwax problem since we got her. They advised just cleaning, but after a while she began to fight me on the cleaning solution (read: I wear the solution on my scratches and the cat departs), so I just started dealing with the upper areas that I could clear. They cleaned deep. They also tested it but said it looked like just earwax - so they were surprised to find she has a yeast infection in her ears. So was I. Glad they caught that! (She won't be. It involves working an ointment deep in to the ears, twice a day. I may not be by the end of the ten days either.)

We are now back home. The area around her ears looks like it's been oiled. And she is sulking about 15 feet away from me, turned to face away from me. Poor put-upon Babe!
