Yahoo! accounts have had a whole set of marketing options, including use of your home address and phone number if they have it.

All the options default to YES.

To turn it off, go to http://subscribe.yahoo.com/showaccount and make the changes you want. (You may need to log in.)

Isn't that just charming? They did send a warning email to anyone who had a Yahoo! mail account that they were doing this, and said it would be 60 days before they used the new settings, but....

I also removed my address & phone number from my account. This was very hard; they won't let you save without filling in either home or work address, and either home or work phone number! Why the heck should they need that information? Ugh.

Well, I never received any notification, so I had no idea about it.

As for removing that info, did you just stick in bogus info?
