Today has gone really well, so far. We got two carloads over early enough to be sure that my parents wouldn't be waiting at our apartment yet. Then we came back, loaded up two more carloads, they showed up, we loaded the back of their truck, and took it over.
That was everything that needed to go in their truck. The rest that's too large for our car either is too large for their truck, or is needed until the stuff that's too large for their truck, so it will go with the movers tomorrow.
So we took them out to lunch. I had planned on Sweet Tomatoes, but Mom suggested a place I'd never heard of (but Scott had) called Wankers. Yes, you heard me right. It's a bar/restaurant. And it's...hard to describe. A forest of bras hanging over the bar. Kitsch ranging from tacky to extremely tacky all over the rest of the place. A badly tanned pelt. A couple deer heads. One with a tumbleweed in its antlers. Alligator statues. A forest of hats nailed to the ceiling.
During lunch/dinner, they put bowls of in-the-shell peanuts on the table, and people crack them and toss the shells on the floor. Fortunately, we arrived too early for most of that - lunch was being served, but it was still mostly "breakfast" time. Meaning, no peanuts.
I hope some of my pictures of it came out at all. The light was lousy, but that description doesn't do it justice, not nearly.
The food was really good though (Scott had told me it would be, though I think the peanut shells bugged him, since he was a bit uneasy with the choice at first and then seemed pleased). I'm very pleased. Scott and I have leftovers awaiting us in the fridge at the new house (since the place is not very far from it, it just made more sense).
It was there that I gave Mom her Mother's Day card and gift. I hope she likes the gift. I hope she forgives me at some point for making sure Scott went in primed to grab the check. :) I like going to lunch with my parents a great deal, and on any other day of the year, I might have let her grab it. But on Mother's Day, after they've helped me move the smaller bits of furniture? Hee. Having them help us move on Mother's Day was tacky enough as it was.
Hope she enjoys the gift, too.
And not all the carloads of Stuff have to go today. None does, in fact. At least one must not go today since we need the cleaning supplies here, the rest, as long as they're gotten off the furniture that goes tomorrow, can go today, tomorrow, or later in the week. (The dishes and clothes and shower supplies really need to be here tonight, there tomorrow night. As it turns out, we're sleeping here tonight, then over there from tomorrow on. Which means I need to update my contact information with my employer soonest Tuesday, yay!!!)

Thanks
The thank you's are from a long time.
From early on, you taught me. All I had to do was keep you from running in front of buses, etc. Easy. You heard.
Mother's Day is for mothers to decide what they want.
Mostly, they want their kids to do ok.
But I spent one night before Mothers' Day making a dress. So I learned some sewing.
Presents are nice. Thank you. (And I suspect we'll try some of the wine jellies.)
But you've already given me many presents. Learning, and fun, and insights. And a memorable picture of you and Ric, around the coffee table, and...
