Woke up this morning to the sun coming brilliant gold in the window and across the floor. The pasture - the grass was coated in dew, almost looked like frost, silvered in the morning sunlight. I couldn't see anything moving there or in the trees, but I could hear the birds calling to each other as I got ready for the day.
It's supposed to rain off and on all weekend, which removes any pretensions I had of sealing the deck yet, but at least it should be pretty.
Right now, outside my window? A sky shaded from pale to deep sky blue, spattered with clouds that are improbably-for-the-hour tinted tan-pink. The sunlight is falling, clear but not harsh, on the building opposite; its facade is about the same color normally, so it's a peculiarly well-set match. The shadows are still soft, and it's cool, and everything looks clean.
Today will be a good day if it follows the start it's made.
