Yes! First, driving beats walking. It's going to cost us $16, but we parked in the Hilton's lot. We got here 20 minutes ago. Scott's trying to generic into the Earthdawn game (whom he's played with once before and likes), so is probably pretty early on the list. :)

I got into my first place 12-4 and 5-9 slot games, so I'm not playing a cat at 7 (there's a Werewolf game running then on the premise that an old woman dies, leaving the gift of lycanthropy to her housecats - I may regret not know what happened with that one, it sounds like I would enjoy it rather a lot). My first and second choice for 8-12 were full, so I'm lurking with generic tickets. If I don't et in, I'll go observe Scott's game (if he gets in) for a couple hours. Then hit the dealer's room for Apples to Apples, and probably the art show. So far, I'm the only one at the table for my first choice, but it's a bit early.

Emily rode down with us; she bruised her leg pretty badly last night and was glad of the offer of a ride. It's a much better drive than walk. I was babbling about last night's game and realized I could steal most of the premise for an Earthdawn game. Very tempted to, and also planning to go have a closer look at the game at its booth, because I'm realizing that a lot of what it has may in fact be useful or good - even if the game itself isn't. And also? The session didn't show me much about the game. I'd kinda like to get a better idea of it.

Well, that was a bust. My first choice game wasn't there - the room judge didn't even know about it and was befuddled when shown the listing, although three other generic holders were there. I decided the rest weren't worth it and I would go with the watch Earthdawn/go to art show/go to exhibit hall idea. Saner than trying to do it all in the 4-5 hour.

What sucked, though, was that all the ticket holders showed up for the Earthdawn game, so Scott didn't get to play. They were almost too late, so it was an unexpected loss, too - and he's really disappointed. He's going to read and watch anime, until noon, when he's going to try to drop into the game I have then - but I feel bad for him.

If mine was a shrug, a "whatever," and a subtle relief - his was a real and true disappointment. :( I know Scott, and he bounces back, but...blah. Just blah.

[As an addendum to this, in the airport on Sunday, we ran into one of the players who was in that Earthdawn game...and he said Scott was lucky. It was a split game with half of them fairly powerful, and apparently something in the scenario resulted in the powerful group attacking the group Scott would have been in - all level 1 characters. They were dying and not having fun, so they killed their characters off and left. Net time? About an hour, according to him. Considering it was supposed to be an eight-hour game and cost $6, that really sucks....]

I think I know someone who played in the housecat/lycanthrope scenario at a different convention (It sounds too much the same not to be a match). He said it was great fun but depended heavily on getting players who could get into the housecat mindset.
