It's raining, and this reminds me that I can't find any of them. I hate to buy another one - it's pathetic - but I'm not that fond of getting soaked when I go walking, either....

So far, the day is going okay. Had an unexpected task, but it was something I could do and I think I can still get the rest of the week's stuff done - it dislodged squeezing in an extra, maybe.

Actually, umbrellas are mostly for people who are stupid enough to think that rain comes down vertically in the state of Oregon....

I have a long coat, though. With an umbrella, I might be able to reduce the soaking to merely the bottom foot or so of my legs, plus the coat.

You're not pathetic. I generally go through a couple a year because I tend to lose them. It's why I only buy cheap umbrellas. The most creative way I've ever lost an umbrella is to (accidentally) drop it in the gap between the subway train and the platform.
