Scott's parents are in town. Late morning/early afternoon, they went (with Scott and his brother) out to wine country, to visit tasting rooms and make sure to stop at one, that they stopped at last year, and pick up another case of wine. They did so. I didn't go along because I was on call and had to have a good response time; and I can't say I'm sorry. I don't drink, and tagging after people during wine-tasting expeditions is boring, no matter how much you may like them.
After that they came back and we played Uno Hearts (I failed to win any game, and lost one - I'd say spectacularly, but Scott's come-back to try to go over and lose before I could was impressive even if he didn't quite make it). That was really fun. Then off to Chevy's for dinner (which I did with the laptop in the trunk of the car, as the restaurant is much closer to work than it is to home; I knew if I had to I could just jaunt over there with the thing).
By the way: no, I don't anticipate calls that much, particularly on level 2. But when they do come in, it's not-good and I hate the thought of not being able to respond quickly. The required time is 20 minutes, and I couldn't have made that without taking the laptop with me - but I prefer not to risk more than about 5, considering how serious it can be. (It's not usually. I've had 'critical' after-hours calls because someone forgot their password and their supervisor forgot how to release the lock on their account.... But when it is serious, it's serious.)
No calls, though, so all I did was haul a laptop up and back, and waste a bit of gas (since we took two cars to be sure). Dinner was very good. I deliberately ordered a plate with four things on it not counting the sides, knowing I couldn't eat nearly that much. It will keep me well-fed for a while and was $1 more than most two-item options, so.... Needless to say, most of the plate came home (especially as I had chips and salsa beforehand).
Then we came back and watched Lord of the Rings. Well, they stopped at Baskin Robbins; I drove straight. I can't say I'm sorry, either. How they packed ice craem in on top when every one of them ate more than I did, often significantly, I have no idea. I took a bite of Scott's to enjoy the flavor and that was all the more I could handle.
Tomorrow is Easter dinner at his aunt and uncle's. From noon to six, I have coverage from someone else so I don't have to worry about the after-hours calls. Again, separate cars, in this case for a more likely occurrence: when I need to leave at 5:15 or so to be back to pick up coverage, Scott may not want to leave yet, nor his parents. So it's very probable that in this case we will actually need the separate cars.
For now, I am tired and I am going to bed.
