I was dreaming just before I woke this morning, but I've lost all of the dream. At six - almost precisely - one of the birds outside decided to start singing. Over and over. I could no longer sleep through it, and as soon as I admitted that and moved to get up, the bird shut up.
I considered going back to sleep, but what point? It's a good enough time to get up, and I've slept through the birds before if I was truly tired, so clearly I did not need the extra sleep.
I woke with the first line of Li-Young Lee's "Furious Versions" stuck in my head, and the second line refusing to come. I think because the first seemed so appropriate and the second was utterly irrelevant. "These days I waken in the used light...." Is there a light in this universe that is not "used"? I like this line, this concept.
I like the whole poem, but it hadn't much to do with the moment. Just this line, stuck in my head.
I'm not sure what all I will do today. There's one more load of laundry to be done, not critical. I may walk into town with my camera, or drive down, though the walk would be better for me. I'll probably spend some time coding, and I'll definitely use the camera, wherever I decide to apply it.
