Oh yeah. And too much soda. I am so hyped on sugar and caffeine. I apologize if this is incoherent, but it must make sense to me at this moment or I wouldn't have hit the post button, right? :)
Today's been weird but not bad. I microwaved my instant oatmeal for three minutes instead of one this morning (actually two and a half as I realized what was going on after way too long). It's supposed to be 1-2 and I don't like it congealed. Well, tough. It was. And crispy at the edges. A bit of milk fixed the congealed, but the crispy bits were both unfixable and highly disturbing. Nonetheless, it was breakfast, and not inedible. I got onto the on ramp for the freeway, came 'round the curve in the ramp, and saw...stopped cars. Well, nearly. Parking lot. That is the moment the traffic report decided to come on and tell me about the accident around the 205 area that was causing massive backup...apparently there'd even been a rolled-over car in the median, but by the time I reached it, there were two motorcycle cops and a white car with a smashed-in front end. If I'd only known, I could have taken 65th out to Tualatin and bypassed it...but it didn't take too long to get past, on account of my getting on the interstate so close to it and skipping the rest of the backup leading to it. :P
The site that went up today did so uneventfully. I'd really already known that, since my phone didn't ring at 6 am, but it's always nice to have confirmation that my phone didn't ring because things went without a hitch (rather than the opposite possibility, that they had to delay for some reason and it's all about to land on me). I like it when things go smoothly, and this apparently really did. There were some comparatively minor settings issues, and I think that was it.
Had to do a lot of skittering back and forth as things happened - it felt like a very scattershot day, because of different stuff - but all of it was routine stuff, just more routine requests than I normally get in a day. Got home and my game tonight was cancelled - with Scott out of town, there were three of us, but one of them forgot. So I stayed home and did other stuff, reading and voting on dpchallenge.
My latest photo placed highest of any of mine so far, though that's still 87 out of 251 photos. I don't care. I'm doing better. I put some conscious thought into this one and even got comments related to the areas I'd been working on. I also got a number of comments suggesting improvements, which was really nice. I like posting a photo that gets positive and critical comments. I tried retaking the shot based on some of those (then held it till the challenge ended). I think it's an improvement.
The challenge entry is here and the retry is here - as usual, links will probably want you to register with dpchallenge (free).
I don't have a photo in the current challenges. It's a pity. I wanted to do "Desolation" but never got to any of the places I was thinking of. I guess I didn't want to do it that badly! The inside-looking-out, I tried, but the shots didn't work and I wasn't satisfied with them even enough to try to retake - the effect I was looking for just was not there. That's okay. A break is not entirely a bad thing. But I'm going to try to do at least one of the two current challenges, if not both. (Negative Space II, and Summer Shots.)
